Need to Know: BROWS

 Attention Over Pluckers!
Lets face it, we don't look so good without eyebrows!

There are so many women that don’t know the importance of eyebrows.  Eyebrows brings attention to the eyes and help to frame the face.  They can change your look- From Natural, to sophisticated, to dramatic.
Eyebrows are a quick and easy way to give yourself a new look.

For you Eyebrow Virgins that have never plucked or waxed your eyebrows, I suggest getting them professionally shaped.

For you over-pluckers, I suggest putting away your tweezers and letting your eyebrows grow in. While you’re growing them in, you can pluck the stray hairs growing in way below your eyebrow so that it looks clean.

Generally your Beautician will use your face to determine the shape of your brow but there are a few guidelines to follow:
This is a guide of where your brows should arch, start and finish. Your Beautician will also asses your face shape to determine which shape will suit you best.

Round Face

Best brow shape: High arch, angled with a short tail to give a slimmer appearance.

Long Face

Best brow shape: A more horizontal, flat brow makes the face appear more oval.

Square Face

Best Brow Shape: A high Arch with a round curve to soften features

Heart-Shaped Face

Best brow shape: Rounded, to soften the pointed chin.

Oval Face

Best brow shape: This face shape can accommodate a variety of brow shapes. Soft, angled brows are particularly flattering.

Tinting

Eyebrow Tinting has been around for a long time but recently had a huge resurgence. In my opinion it is the quickest way to make your brows more defined.
Before and after brow shape and tint. How much younger does she look?!!

Filling in the Brows/Penciling

Personally I wouldn't step outside the door without filling in my poor brows! There are some many products out there now to fill in your brows from pencils, powders, waxes etc. Its trial and error to find out which suits you best of a combination of products.

Select a brow filler that's a shade or two lighter than your hair.

Begin with freshly plucked or waxed brows.

Fill in any gaps with a sharp eyebrow pencil using light, feathery strokes, adding color to thinner areas.

Define thin brows with a brow powder. Use a flat angled brow brush and color over the natural shape of the brow. Apply to the outer edges first, then move to the area closer to the nose.

Groom your brows with a clean mascara brush or similar tool. Move loose hairs into place and blend color for a more natural appearance.

Use a brow powder with a waxy base to keep hairs in place throughout the course of the day. Or use a very small amount of brow gel or alcohol-free hair gel on the brush when grooming your brows.
Trimming
Some of us are lucky enough to have short hair in our brows that lie beautifully in place but unfortunately most of us don't.
As we get older our eyebrow hairs grow longer and it is important to trim these to keep brows in shape.
Start with a clean mascara wand or a brow brush. Brush all hair upwards and any hairs that grow above your desired brow line trim.
Now brush all the hair down and do the same with any hair that grows below the desired brow line.

I would recommend using a sharp curved nail scissors for this.
